How Frequently is the HGV Driver’s Medical Test Carried Out?
An HGV Medical is required for applying your HGV provisional. Anybody upto the age of 45 will need it after every 5 years. For drivers above the age of 65 it is required only once a year.
What happens if you have a medical condition?
In case of a heart attack, The DVLA may require you to fill out a self-declaration form. This form is not required to be filled out by the doctor.
If under certain circumstances, the DVLA sends you a D4 medical form then this will be mandatory for the doctor to fill it.
How Much Does A HGV Medical cost?
The cost for A HGV Medical is approx £49.99 if booked through D4 Medicals. However, if you do intend to get the test on your own it will be more.
I have reached 45 years and I haven't received the medical forms.
You will receive a D4 medical form with the renewal form (D47P) around 6-8 weeks before your entitlement is over.
THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS HAPPEN.
It is always better to check the backside of your driver's license and check the expiry date of your entitlement. You will find your car entitlement will be longer and therefore you must check your HGV categories C or C+E.
According to the DVLA, it is your responsibility to ensure your entitlement does not expire. You will not be insured if it lapses.
Where Can I Get the Medical and renewal Forms From?
If you get an HGV medical done through D4 Medicals, we will provide the forms for you.
