Medical HGV Driver: Most Prevalent causes of failure

HGV Medicals Driver

HGV Medical checks are terrifying. In fact, going to the doctor can make you nervous. It is more stressful when your livelihood is at stake. Here are the most frequent causes of HGV medical failure and suggestions for avoiding them.

1.       Blood Pressure

The most frequent cause is by far blood pressure. When it comes to blood pressure, the DVLA is fairly tolerant. A blood pressure of 180/100 is OK. You are not qualified to operate a heavy goods vehicle if either of these readings is beyond the permitted level.

2.       The Eye Test

The HGV eye test requirement is stricter than the standard automobile driving requirement. Many people might discover that they can read a licence plate from 20 metres away in bright sunlight but still fail the eye test.

In general, you are more likely to pass if you can quickly read the licence plate.

6/.75 in the better eye and 6/60 in the weaker eye are the minimum requirements.

If You Don't Meet the Eye Standard, What Happens?

In this situation, the doctor will inform you first. Second, they will ask you to visit an optician rather than completing the form's section on vision evaluation. Additionally, they will recommend glasses or contact lenses for you to wear in order to pass. The eye doctor will be able to complete the vision assessment on your behalf.

However, at D4 Medicals, you may always come once you've received your glasses if you need to. We will fill out the vision assessment if you bring your prescription glasses. The eye examination is complimentary.

3.       The Free Retest

If you have your HGV medical completed by a reliable business like D4 Medicals. They'll give you a FREE RE-TEST. This means that if you struggle with something that is simple to handle, like your blood pressure, you will fail. We suggest that you visit your doctor so that you can get treatment for your high blood pressure. You return, we retest you, and you can then receive your renewal and/or provisional.

You are not deemed unfit or fit for the D4 medical by our doctors. But we are aware of the DVLA guidelines that have been provided here. We adhere to this standard and are familiar with it. As a result, we can put this into practise and provide you with comprehensive information regarding the medical criteria for holders of an HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Licence.
